\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe socio-economic importance of the Argentine agro-industry sector is evident in its contributions to the national economy, and as a driver for development and technological innovation. The GHG emissions addressed by the National Action Plan for Agriculture and Climate Change accounts for 37% of total national emissions, or around 136 MtCO2eq (3rd BUR<\/a>). These emissions correspond to agriculture, livestock, forestry and other land uses.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEnergy supply in the country is characterized by its heavy dependence on fossil fuels. This source accounted for 87% of total domestic supply (Second NDC<\/a>). Considering the major sources of GHG emissions in Argentina, the Energy sector is the most significant one, representing 53% of national emissions (3rd BUR<\/a>), including supply and demand subsectors.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Transport<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The transport sector plays a significant role in the economic structure as it makes feasible the access of key traded commodities to international markets. It accounts for about 14% of national GHG emissions (3rd BUR<\/a>). In 2019, the transport sector represented the 33% of the energy demand in the country. This consumption was supplied by diesel (39%), gasoline (36%), natural gas (12%), biofuels (9%) and other fuels (4%) (Second NDC<\/a>).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Given the systemic trait of the entire energy chain, addressing it, is crucial for emissions reduction as well as for its contribution to improving competitiveness across the entire economy, reducing operational costs in different sectors. Conversely, measures oriented to promote GHG emissions reductions in other productive and service sectors will have an impact in the energy and transport sectors by creating new demands and fostering changes in the supply matrix.<\/p>
